Get to Know Allie Laurenzo!

Allie is a gifted Interior Designer at Holland Basham Architects with a hands-on approach to working with clients. After studying and visualizing the space by creating several 2D drawings and 3D models, she finds visiting the site during construction to be one of the most rewarding parts of her job. Allie enjoys using VR within the actual space to uncover opportunities for a significant positive impact on each project.

An Advocate for Interior Design

Allie is currently studying to pass the NCIDQ exam, solidifying her credentials and dedication to the profession. On the advocacy committee for the Great Plains Chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), she is working alongside fellow designers to propose a bill for legislation for Interior Designers in Nebraska, recognizing the profession.

As an Interior Designer, I find the most challenging part of my job to toe the line between trendy and timeless. My goal is always to value my clients’ investment while working with them to develop an outcome that is unique, personal, and flexible enough to evolve in the future.”

Favorite Project

Heider College of Business at Creighton

So far, Allie’s favorite project at HBA has been the renovation at the Heider College of Business at Creighton University. Her expertise has been integral to the project to help find solutions to suit many different stakeholders’ needs. On a personal note, her brother was a student at the College of Business during the initial planning process and attended a few student visioning sessions where HBA received design feedback from students.

Fun Facts

We asked Allie for some fun facts, and we learned some new things about her:

  • As a child, she used to sit in her bedroom and redraw the floorplan, paying attention to details such as floor vents, windows, and door swings, before bribing her dad to help her rearrange.
  • Allie started her career in residential design but discovered an interest in commercial design, leading her to the team at HBA.
  • Allie enjoys spending time outside, going to the gym, reading good books, going to local art events, sampling her way through a farmer’s market, traveling, drinking red wine, and discovering live music.
  • Music is a big part of her life. When she was young, she formed a band with her siblings called the “Triple-A Batteries.” Later she launched a “solo career” and developed some piano skills while dabbling with just about every percussion instrument under the sun while honing her karaoke abilities.
