MCC Furniture Mock-Up

By July 5, 2016June 15th, 2021No Comments

Our work at Metropolitan Community College continues to move forward. Interior designers Angela Dopheide and Allie Laurenzo brought in a variety of furniture samples for MCC project leaders, instructors and students to test. The furniture was arranged into three different zones for classrooms, social and collaborative areas, and teacher work spaces. Proposed furniture systems include benching work stations, training tables, chairs, marker boards, and lecterns, among others.  This full-day activity resulted in a display of all products until mid-July for teachers, students and College leaders to observe hands-on. Some summer instructors will be temporarily moving their classes into the staging area to allows students to test the furniture systems in an authentic setting. This exercise will help the team make decisions for all three of the new MCC buildings, which are scheduled to be completed in 2017: The Academic Skills Center, the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology, and the Construction Education Center. Voting by key stakeholders will take place by July 15, and all feedback will be compiled so a decision on furniture systems will be made within a few weeks. HBA and MCC leaders are excited to see this project continue to evolve. We will share more progress photos in the months to come.
