QLI is a world-class rehabilitation center in Omaha, Nebraska specializing in rebuilding lives after injury. The ‘smart apartment’ was developed to enhance rehabilitative living spaces by providing a sense of independence to residents with a technology-rich environment. Each unit is adaptable to meet resident’s unique needs with customizable voice and app-controlled amenities. The challenge for this space was to make it accessible for varying degrees of disabilities. Wood tones, soft whites and accents of blue were utilized in the design to support a calming environment.
The apartments are among the first to administer modular wall and casework systems, allowing for adjustments without destructive or time-consuming alterations.
